It is possible to play an exhibition mode in addition to a pennant race mode; the game even allows players to use special Barcode Battler cards that were only available in Japan. Children created these special cards by cutting out barcodes from their parents' groceries and scanning them with a special analyzer. Options allowed players to trade players between teams, alter the rules of the game, among other things. Pennant race mode allows players to assign teams to different leagues; altering which teams belong to either the ''Central'' or the ''Pacific'' league for the duration of that season.
